The funny thing about
The Godfather and its first sequel, is that they're films that were made a few years before I was born, that I truly like, and appreciate for all its glory. This is what filmaking is all about, and not the lackluster movies, and remakes/reboots, of series, that were once great in it initial run. Imagine the travesty, when Hollyweird, decides to make a Godfather reboot or remake??? Holy shit, there will be hell to pay when and if, that happens at all. These are a few gems, that are to remain untouched, by anyone else, because no matter, if current actors that are of A list caliber, or Oscar winners/nominees......NO ONE!! and I repeat, no one, will ever show the high caliber acting of Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Robert DeNiro and the late John Cazale showed and proved on screen. As good as some actors of today, such as Russell Crowe, Colin Firth, Tom Hanks-to name a few- are, they still will not capture the magic, as these 6 men shown in the series.
Granted........despite the negative outlook on Italians and Sicilians, this is the lifestyle chosen, by very few of them, and I mean few. This is not the best presentation of a strong and wonderful people, but it shows the underworld, and the other side of a card, that is not seen, by many
stranieri, or foreigners. Despite the violence, and bad press against the Italians, it does have some lessons, to live by. And here's a little list of lessons:
Family comes first
Learn to appreciate your parents
Always protect your family form harm
Never let an enemy know what your think
Keep vigilant
Learn to stretch the truth, but still be truthful
Don't let anger blind you
Friendship is good
Italian/Sicilian weddings, are really elaborate
And that's many fine points in life.
