David Tennant and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, have joined in to portray Peter Vincent and "Evil" Ed. These 2 have been casted as two important roles of the 5 primary characters as in the original. The join Colin Farrell, (Vampire Dandrige), Toni Collette (Charlie's mom), and Anton Yelchin (Charlie Brewster).
The first and original one, only had Roddy McDowall and Chris Sarandon as the more famous stars in the movie, back in 1985. But it proved to be a really good vampire movie afterall, and pretty scary. The storyline will remain intact, basically, with obviously a few new ideas added in, and updated. The new cast will have a definite hard time to out do, or even try to equal the impact of the original. Most remakes...literally fail, when it come to the power and impressions the original flicks have. Well, hopefully Dreamworks has success in keeping the namesake alive and well, and not another quick off the grill, makeshift remakes that most remakes are anyway. Just filler movies. And what I mean filler, is that it fills the pockets of movie execs, and writers and not really making a worthwhile movie, with a strong plotline, or that it just depends of SFX and loud noises to keep people interested.

Agreed.
Except for that "literally fail" part. Don't use that word if you can't use it properly.
